PHILADELPHIA, PA, JULY 1, 2009 – Philadelphia band Parkwright, represented by Monster Entertainment, took grand-prize in this year’s Mid-Atlantic Band Competition and will perform live at this year’s Musikfest, August 4 on the Plaza Tropical stage from 9:30pm until 11pm.

Parkwright’s journey was challenging as 220 bands competed for only 4 spots. Online voting re-opened Tuesday, June 2 and continued until Saturday, June 20. It took a week to tally all of the votes and on Tuesday, June 30 Parkwright was named grand-prize winner for having the most votes. As grand prize winner, Parkwright will receive a video package from Class-E Media, a $1000 cash prize and in addition to their performance this year, they’ve also won a booking at Musikfest 2010.

“For all of you lovely people that took the time to vote for us, spread the word to friends, and do anything to help us out in the contest, THANK YOU. We were up against very stiff and accomplished competition, but with some hard work and a little help from our friends we edged them out. We're obviously very excited for our 9:30 spot on August 4th at the Plaza Tropical. Please come on by and check us out - we'll be playing all of the new songs from the forthcoming EP and rocking hard.,” said George Farrell, Parkwright's lead singer and lyricist.
